Dance Studios and Finding Professional Teachers

Posted By Sarah Wilkiamson on March 2, 2009 @ 3:15 am
by Sarah Wilkiamson

When looking at dance schools it is important to consider the standard of teachers. Many schools will hire high school graduates not professional teachers. This will result in a lower teaching standard for your child. It is worth the extra money to find a school that hires professional teachers.

Things to consider about part time or inexperienced teachers:

These teachers are inexperienced: They will lack the necessary skills and experience that a professional teacher will have.

They are part time and often are just teaching for the money rather than dedicating themselves to the pupils. They are often not even thinking of becoming teachers but really have their minds on their classes and not necessarily on the pupils.

There is a lack of maturity with very young trainers. If their experience with children has been limited they may not yet know how to run a class of young pupils. It is a common misconception that anyone can teach a class. The truth of the matter is that anyone can talk to groups of people, getting them to learn is a craft.

There are several reasons to insist on a professional teacher who has a lot of experience:

They are very knowledgeable and have spent years dedicating their lives to the art of dance. This will mean that they can use that experience to pass on a wealth of knowledge to the young students that trust them. They are a specially trained professional.

They work full time: The good thing about professional teachers is the fact that they teach full time. It is important to young children to get to know and like their dance teacher. If they are part time students and are not always there the children get confused and do not feel secure learning from different teachers. On the other hand if they learn from one or two teachers they will build up a rapport with them and learn better.

They are specially trained to teach young children: Dance is a very personal thing and needs an intuitive teacher to bring out the best in a child. Professional teachers are trained to have this quality and draw out a child’s creativity.

They are dedicated to their pupils: professional teachers have gone through a fairly rigorous training and do not do these dance courses unless they are really dedicated. Because they love dancing they are keen to pass on this love to others. That is why they are very committed to their pupils, especially their young students. This enables their pupils to learn faster and better.

It takes a very committed and talented individual to train young people in dance. While most people find dancing comes naturally and is enjoyable, the discipline involved with refining raw talent into sculptured craft doesn’t just occur. Professional teachers have been trained to bring out the best in young people. There is a lot of persuasion involved with young people when it comes to practicing skills. It might cost a little more for a professional teacher, but it could mean the difference between a child loving dance and regretting they tried to learn.

Bakugan can be found on sale online and in most toy stores as well. Searching and picking Bakugan of your choice won’t be a problem. However, before buying consider first your kid’s likes and dislikes and then what should you actually buy so your kid can get started with the popular anime-based toys.

So your kid can get started, you must actually buy him or her Bakugan starter pack. This starter pack includes 6 Bakugan, 8 magnetic Gate cards and instructions for the starting player. Not to mention that when you opt for the starter pack, your kid can play in a game, 3 or more. And it is cheaper to buy this starter pack than buy all those 6 Bakugan included in the pack.

It is also a good choice to opt for the starter pack if in case you are clueless on what character your kid might possibly enjoy. The starter pack include Bakugan that come in various colors which represents their attributes. Sub-Terra is in Brown color and represents Earth, Pyrus is in Red color and represents fire, Aquos is in Blue color and represents water, Ventus is in Green color and represents air, Haos is in White color and represents light and Darkus is in Black.

If you know your kid’s favorite color, it’s a lot better. You won’t anymore be boggled which one your kid will enjoy the most. But otherwise, no much worries when you opt for the starter pack as Bakugan come in various, basic colors.

With the starer pack, your kid can finally get started playing Bakugan. You can keep him entertained for hours. He will be able to learn how to make strategies and use Math while actually playing. However, you of course must watch over him from the first day you handed down the starter pack to him. Be sure he won’t be missing out more important things like his assignments or projects in school. Remember that playing Bakugan shouldn’t be your kid’s top priority.

Discharge During Pregnancy: What is Normal and What is Not?

Posted By Amanda Garrett on January 18, 2009 @ 2:02 pm
by Amanda Garrett

Pregnancy is a wonderful, yucky thing isn’t it? There is so much going on with our bodies that we have absolutely no idea about. Especially if this is your first pregnancy it is completely normal to worry; A LOT! I have found that there are three types of discharge during pregnancy that worries us the most.

* Blood

Anytime that we see blood “down there” it is completely natural to be worried. You should always call and check in with your doctor if you feel that there is something wrong with you or your baby, don’t doubt yourself! There is one type of bleeding however that comes up a lot and does not constitute a doctor visit. Bleeding after sex! This type of bloody discharge during pregnancy is completely normal. You see, your cervix (the opening to your uterus) is very sensitive at this time and more often than not sex can aggravate the cervix causing some light bleeding.

You should be sure and give the doctor a call if:

*The bleeding occurs any time during the first trimester

*You experience contractions or cramps with the bleeding

*If you have bleeding that soaks more than one pad per hour.

*You have bleeding for a long period of time (more than 24 hours)

*Yeast

Even if you have had a yeast infection before pregnancy, it is a new ball game now that there is a baby inside you! A normal yeast infection will cause a thick, white or yellow, foul smelling discharge during pregnancy. Another symptom of a yeast infection is itching or burning of the labia and/or vagina. You CAN use a yeast infection medication such as Monistat to treat this common pregnancy condition.

You need to understand, though, that there are times when a discharge accompanied by a burning or itchy feeling could be something else that requires a completely different type of treatment. So it is important that you visit with your doctor about your symptoms before discounting them as simply a yeast infection.

Pink, Clear Fluid

This could be the most concerning type of discharge during pregnancy since it could possibly be amniotic fluid. No matter what point you have reached in your pregnancy, this clear discharge can mean trouble but this is especially true during the third trimester. It is possible that you could have a tear in the amniotic sack which could cause leaking of the amniotic fluid.

Fortunately when this clear, pinkish discharge during pregnancy occurs it isnt amniotic fluid, but instead, it is just a little urine. As humiliating as that might be, we are pregnant and yes, disgusting things happen, like urinating on yourself!

When to go to the emergency room:

*If you see any blood mixed in with the discharge

*Mild to heavy contractions associated with the discharge

Typically, you will see an increase in the amount of discharge during pregnancy. However, this discharge should look white and milky, have no or very mild odor, and be feel a lot like lotion. If your discharge is different than this, it is worth mentioning to your OB.

Posted By Carla Whiting on December 19, 2008 @ 8:38 pm

Most mothers have a dual life; they manage a full time job and also manage their house and children. This can be overwhelming at times but a few pointers can help these busy mothers to ease their burdens and be stress free.

1. Plan your menus: Planning has a lot of advantages allowing you to save money and enjoy meal times that are no longer harried and stressful.

2. Prepare Meals in Advance – Cook two or three meals at a time; serve one, freeze the others. It’s really no harder to cook a double portion of the same dish and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you already have another meal or two ready to eat!

3. Community Meal Rotations – The mothers in the rotation group take turns making the evening meals during the week. It is possible to cut cooking time to one night a week although you will be preparing for a larger number of people.

4. Errand planning: Plan your errands in such a way that you can do them on your way to and from work or while in route to some other place. This will save time and fuel and leave you less stressed.

5. Car pooling is a great time saver. All you need to do is get the moms of the neighborhood involved.

6. Get the family involved! In order to be successful at managing your time you will need to enlist the help of everyone in your household. Draft your children’s help in keeping their own rooms cleaned for rewards of some type.

7. Split the housecleaning chores into small tasks that can be managed on a day-to-day basis so that it doesn’t overwhelm you. You will find that by doing this you have more time for other things.

8. Be Realistic – There is no such thing as supermom or perfect mom. Learn to say ‘no’ or you will never find a way to manage your time.

Baby Shower Ideas – Birth Month Flowers Enhance the Theme

Posted By Edie Mindell on December 18, 2008 @ 2:47 pm

Flowers add a special touch to any event, especially celebrations like baby showers. While some choose a type of flower to match a color scheme, others like to use the baby’s predicted birth month flower, or even the flower of the month in which the baby shower will be held. Whether you decide on flowers according to the baby’s birth date, or simply pick the ones that you love the most, this article will break down the significance of each month’s flower.

A great idea might be to choose different flowers based on their meaning and make a beautiful flower arrangement pattern for the shower. There are beautiful baby shower centerpieces that are made from baby clothes called baby bouquets that have to be seen to be believed make unique arrangements. These are some of the best baby shower ideas to be invented in the last few years.

January’s flower is the sweet and sassy carnation. The carnation exerts beauty, distinction, gratitude, fascination, and admiration; the pink carnation in particular represents “a mother’s love.” Soft and gentle on the outside but strong and durable on the inside, the carnation is the perfect flower to represent the bittersweet paradox relating to the first month of the year. The carnation’s scientific name, Dianthus, directly translates into “flower of love.” This flower is one of the oldest cultivated flowers in the world, yet one of the most popular today.

February is the month of love and warmth, and this month’s flower, the iris, denotes deep and profound notes. The iris’ three upright petals each have a meaning; the first is faith, the second is valor, and the third is wisdom. Gracefulness, majesty, and dignity characterize the iris’ presence. Purple, the color of royalty, makes February’s birth flower extravagant and majestic; the iris is truly the flower of splendor and grandeur.

In March, spring begins to arise with bright cheers and rays of sunshine. The daffodil is dainty and yellow, and is the flower that follows after and breaks winter’s cold atmosphere, bringing warmth and joy to the world. The daffodil is the symbol of rebirth, new beginnings, and a fresh start. Daffodils exert happiness and exhilaration to the world, and fill the earth with light and brightness.

April is a paradoxical month, with both rain showers and sunlight. The daisy’s character parallels this paradox, in that it is a feminine yet childlike flower. The legend of the history of daisies is that this precious flower originated from a nymph who transformed herself into a cute-but-not-loud flower, in order to run away from unwanted attention. The daisy is symbolic of eternal youth, playfulness, and a charming child-like character.

The best things about May are the beautiful lilies that decorate beautiful landscapes of the earth. Lilies are sweet and humble; they do not ask for attention but their unconventional beauty inevitably gets compliments and praise. Lilies symbolize virtue, purity and honor.

The middle of the year calls for June’s sunshine, warmth, and gorgeous roses. Roses are the universal icon for love and passion throughout the world. Roses depict beauty and perfection, and they reveal a touch of mystery. Each and every petal is as gracious as the next, and the rose surely stands out in a bouquet.

Whichever flower, month, color or any other category you choose for baby shower planning, you are assured to have a colorful, fun event for celebrating the newborn baby’s birth!

Banking On Hope For The Future With Stem Cells

Posted By Chris Channing on @ 3:02 am

Stem cells are one of the things that doctors could really use to help some children nowadays and the banking of those stem cells from umbilical cords is increasingly being advocated. Stem cells can be frozen for extended periods of time without killing them for use in the future. Stem cells can then be available when a child gets very ill or needs special treatments involving stem cells.

Stem cells can be used to treat various disease and illness because of their special ability to regenerate and heal. Experiments and research on stem cells has been done since the 1960s. Stem cells are one of the only cells that can change into other specialized cell types such as brain cells. Another place where stem cells can be found is in bone marrow.

Stem cells can be stored indefinitely when taken from the umbilical cord or marrow. Many stem cell banks can store such materials safely and without loss if performed correctly. There are stem cell banks around the world which offer stem cell storage and access to medical researchers on stem cells.

Genetic disorders as well as other types of illness can happen unexpectedly. This can make it very difficult to diagnose and treat sickness within youths and even those individuals in their adult years. Stem cells have been shown to effectively treat many disorders as well as combat sickness easily when the stem cells are still in the young stages. This can drastically improve the condition of the patient as well as save their lives.

Umbilical cord blood has many nutrients in it as well as large amounts of stem cells. The nutrients can help to boost the immune system in a child’s body as well as benefitting from the added rejuvenation properties of stem cells within the body. This can be offered as an emergency life saving treatment when stored properly. Many medical facilities and banks can store umbilical cord blood, bone marrow, and separated stem cells.

The modern world offers many different establishments in which you could save your cord blood. This allows you to help insure your child or a family member from sickness due to genetic or other causes. Stem cell banking can really make a difference in a person’s future healthy life.

Closing Comments

Stem cell research has drawn out some advanced treatments that can save a child or relative’s life. Stem cells are very difficult to store and stem cell banks make it possible to save them for use later on in life.

Picking the Best Child Care Provider

Posted By Carol Ann on December 15, 2008 @ 5:45 pm

There are several things that a parent must consider when choosing a child care provider for their child or children. Finding a person or a facility that will provide the best care for your little ones can be a difficult task, and thinking through the entire process and taking it step by step will insure that you are making a good solid decision.

The first consideration you’ll have will be not to rush things. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to choose a child care provider carefully. Rushing to a quick decision due to time constraints is a big mistake you will want to avoid if possible. If you’re rushed to return to work before finding proper child care, then temporary arrangements with a trusted friend or family member are often a viable short term solution.

Next, you’ll need to decide what type of child care will fit your needs best. Will you need full time or part time care? Will you need after school pickup and care? Will your child be cared for in your own home or in a child care facility? These choices will be dictated by your own family needs and schedule.

Your next step will be to begin interviewing potential child care givers. There are several things to consider in this decision. Make sure you ask for references and try to talk to other parents if possible. If you’re considering a child care facility, a good way to meet other parents is to visit the facility when children are being dropped off or picked up by their parents. This will also allow you to see the interaction between caregivers and children.

You’ll want to know about licenses of the facilities and qualifications of the caregivers. Checking references should help you get some of the answers you need. And make sure to ask lots of questions. Ultimately these considerations will help you make one of the most important decisions for your family.

Taking Care Of Newborns To Optimize Their Good Health

Posted By Chris Channing on December 14, 2008 @ 11:24 pm

Caring for new babies is a worrisome thing for new mothers or infant caregivers. They are precious and delicate lives, and every tiny thing can permanently influence its future. Nothing is more precious and easily changed than a newborn childs life. Caring for new babies is a delicate process, and there are some basic things that all new infant caregivers should know.

Never leave a new baby alone by himself for more than a short period of time. Having the comfort of its caretaker, or mother, is a positive thing for the new baby. It will bond quickly with its mother the more time that she spends nurturing it and caring for it. This is an important part of its development and will aide in positive mental health. Speaking to it in a normal voice, not a “baby” voice, is also a good way to show it love and affection.

The world is humongous and frightening for a new baby. While caring for your new baby, you will need to keep it away from anything that could be potentially harmful to the child. Never feed your new baby anything that is unhealthy, or expose it to dangerous chemicals. Start teaching it healthy habits early in life, even as early as 2 days old. These things will stick!

You should also strive to take care of your newborn mentally and socially. Having a social life even as a newborn is important so that the new child can develop strong social skills that will later improve his life as a young adult and an adult. Social skills are proven to make someone live longer, so exposing your baby to healthy people that are positive is a good thing. Caring for new babies means nurturing them in all aspects, not just one!

The most important thing of a new babies development is their sleeping patterns. If you live in a loud environment it is important to eliminate the loud noises and only provide soothing areas for your child to sleep. Caring for a new baby means sacrificing loud music as well as other loud noises that could harm his development and growing brain. Soft music and instrumental music is good for a growing baby, especially while sleeping.

Caring for new babies requires a lot of time, patience, and willingness to teach and help a new soul grow strong and healthy. This takes a lot of effort and dedication on your part. Caring for new babies means taking a precious life into your own hands and aiding in its positive growth. Its more than anything you have ever experienced.

Closing Comments

Caring for new babies is tedious, but also rewarding and worth it all in the end.
