Most smokers will eventually come to realize that continuing to smoke their life away just isn’t worth their time and effort. After all, smoking is known to be atrocious for your health, bringing about such conditions as bad breath, stained yellow teeth and even lung cancer. And yet, it is not quite that easy to stop smoking. So what then is the best way to stop smoking?

Generally, when a heavy smoker decides to stop smoking, they may feel anxious or have cravings, experience depression or other symptoms. For these reasons, it may be too difficult to quit smoking. However, many people make it a priority to stop smoking and are proactive in finding the best way to stop smoking and trying any option that might work for them.

The best way to stop smoking is to change your thinking process. A large part of an addiction is mental; it’s all about perspective. Once you realize, truly, deep down realize that you need and want to quit, then it is easier to quit. You can throw your cigarettes away and never look back, getting through your withdrawal symptoms with more ease because you know that you need to stop smoking. So just wake up and realize that you need to quit.

Remain focused and positive. If you assume that quitting smoking will be a difficult, time-consuming process, then it probably will be very difficult to quit. However, if you begin the process on a more positive note and envision that you will quit smoking in a short time with little or no side effects, then quitting will seem very easy.

You point of view can completely alter your whole experience. Were you ever in a situation where you needed to pass a test and yet before you started, you had already said to yourself that you were not going to pass? Often you couldn’t pass. However, when you put yourself in that situation and confidently tell yourself that you can indeed do it, it is far more likely that you will accomplish your goal. Enjoy a night on the town, without having to take a smoking break. You gain more time and flexibility when you stop smoking.

When you do stop smoking, the symptoms can include headaches, anxiety and cravings. Remember that you do not want to smoke anymore and remind yourself why. Instead of being miserable, do something constructive. Hit the gym. Visit friends and family.

If you make up your mind to do it, you can quit smoking right away. Take the first step and toss out your cigarettes and do not give in to any temptation to purchase new ones. You can quit smoking in a day if you truly put your mind to it. It’s only as difficult as you make it and may even be fun, depending upon how you view it. Positive thinking is all you need to kick the cigarette habit. The best way to stop smoking can be to adopt an optimistic outlook and believe in your own abilities.
