Ditching the Diet to Burn the Baby Fat

Eating is something we have to do everyday of our lives. The how, when and what you eat are intimately related with your lifestyle. Obviously, we can’t exist on cabbage soup or remove carbohydrates or fats from our diets for the rest of our lives. As a result, we eventually stop the diet and gain back the weight lost and then some. It’s no surprise then that despite all these diets that claim to have the answer to burn the baby fat, that there still is a growing number of moms struggling with a weight problem today.

We are told to eat a balanced diet, which seems simple enough but in today’s world we don’t have or make the time to do so and to make matters worse, we are getting more and more over weight for lack of trying. If you want to burn the baby fat, the natural thing to do would be to cut back on your caloric intake. All diets do this but the majority of them are missing the “nutritionally balanced” part.

No Food Diet

Eating to live is easier said than done because most of us live to eat and that usually results in us packing on the pounds. The fact that we have to eat to live tells us that our bodies are “wired” to receive food on a regular basis and not the opposite. Because of this, when you literally starve yourself on an extremely low-calorie diet, your body’s “energy conservation” strategy kicks into effect by reducing your metabolism to hold onto your baby fat instead of burning it.

Starvation diets make your body’s metabolism use fewer calories to perform its normal bodily functions and thus preventing you from burning the baby fat as fast as you normally could. This is why moms who diet frequently experience the weight gain quickly after the diet and the weight seems harder to lose the second time around. Simply eating a nutritionally balanced diet that is low in calories and eating smaller meals more frequently is more effective for losing the pregnancy weight and staying healthy than dieting.

Hollywood Diets

Going on a Hollywood diet to lose the pregnancy weight is like putting a band-aid on a serious wound. Hollywood diets promise quick weight loss with their secret formula or ingredient. But once you’re off the diet, the weight “lost” will soon become the weight “re-gained” with a few extra pounds added.

Sacrificing being thin over being healthy for a few weeks or months may be accepted in Hollywood but it doesn’t work in the real world. Hollywood diets are unhealthy quick-fix solutions to weight loss because we all know that limiting your food to some supposedly magic ingredient is never a good idea.

Mother Nature’s Diet

As tempting a starvation or fad diet may seem to solve your battle to burn the baby fat, it will be weight re-gained and time poorly spent. Why not use your precious time and pour your energy into taking steps to learn the tools that foster healthy living? Living a healthy lifestyle involves taking care of your mind, body and spirit. True weight management is an on-going activity. Gradually losing pregnancy weight through eating right and exercising regularly will increase your success rate at long term weight loss. Dump the diets. Eat healthy and live healthy.
