Kenya offers the right combination of beautiful and romantic hotels, stunning scenery, and is easily accessible to visitors. A wedding in Kenya is an ideal opportunity for the bride, groom, and guests alike to also experience the romance and adventure of a Kenyan honeymoon. While the idea of arranging a wedding in a foreign country may seem daunting, the legalities of marrying in Kenya can be readily arranged.

The country has many private game lodges and sanctuaries that visitors can take advantage of and organize a special wedding honeymoon package that suits their needs. Kenya is also one of the prime honeymoon destinations in Africa. Couples will not be disappointed and will find many places where they can have their own paradise where they can enjoy peace and privacy.

When planning a wedding, couples should let their imaginations run wild for their wedding to be truly memorable. One of the major issues to consider when organizing a wedding in Kenya is the backdrop for the special day. Some of the options to consider include beach, the bush, riverbanks, tented wilderness camps or in remote safari locations. The choices are many.

Kenyan weddings can be informal and relaxed; barefoot on the beach, relaxing under canvas, or completely formal with black ties and wedding gowns in the bush. The cocktail of formality and wilderness has become a trademark of Kenya’s romantic safari lifestyle and is easier to arrange than you may think.

For those that love to hold a beach wedding at one of the beach resorts, a typical wedding scenario is where the reception of the hotel is radically transformed and turned into a wedding chapel decorated with stunning tropical flowers. The ceremony is then officiated by a priest or marriage registrar after which the guests head to the reception where they get to sample the local sea delicacies. Thereafter, the evening dance follows which then brings to an end the joyful occasion.

Below is one option of having your wedding done in Galdessa Camp that is located in Tsavo East National park

Galdessa Camp

Galdessa Camp is a small eco-tourism up-market tented lodge in Kenya’s largest park, Tsavo East National Park. Under the shade of the doum palms, the camp’s 8 spacious “bandas”(sort of semi-tented thatched bungalows) are comfortable, fresh, and elegant. Set well apart, they all face the river and the Yatta Plateau, the world’s largest fossilized lava flow (over 200km long).

The walls of the camps are made out of canvas and the mosquito nets are set tastefully in timber frames. The romantic interior is further enhanced by its natural woods, stone tables and thatched roofs and its mosquito netting which enhances the contact with the rhythms and sounds of the wild outside.

The honeymoon suite is another romantic room that has its own sitting room, a platform where the guests can view the wild as well as a water wallow. This camp is also lucky to be located in one of the most best kept conservation projects and the guests will be delighted to see black rhinos within its vicinity.

The required documents are: Birth Certificates, Passports, Certificate of No Impediment or sworn affidavit (in case of not having married before) Decree OR absolute (in cases of divorcees). OR Death certificate (in cases of widow or widower)

Couples need to be in the country three days before the wedding date and they also need to apply for a special wedding license from the government. On the day of their wedding, they will get a wedding certificate and after 4 working days, they will get another certified copy of the entry into the marriage registry.
