Do an extensive research of trade shows to see which show would be best suited for you and your company. After you have narrowed the list call some of the exhibitors who have exhibited at each show and ask what they thought about the show and if the show was lucrative for them
You will always get a great deal of promotional material from the show management. Usually there is a discount to sign up for display spaces early. Take advantage of this. Try to have your booth space selected in a high traffic area, especially near larger booth in your industry
Sometime later you will receive a service kit from the show management. In the kit you will find information on how to order various services for your booth. You will also receive a schedule of when all items have to be in.
In making a decision on your trade show display, I would suggest going the route of a custom trade show booth. This can be expensive however the alternative to this is renting a custom trade show booth. This helps in giving your company a custom looking trade show booth at a fraction of the cost.
Make sure you set a realistic budget and stick to it. Most companies get in trouble by not setting a proper and realistic budget. Consider Transportation, room and board and exhibit components
Get your press release kit in order. Make sure it is distributed thought-out the press conference. This is great preshow advertisement, do as many interviews as possible. This can make such a difference in show traffic you would not believe. Press releases and blogging are a great way to your product and services in the show attendees ears.
Always arrange to have a great giveaway. These giveaways help the attendee remember your company. Make sure that your company name is printed somewhere on the giveaway. Do not give away random or generic product give away. If you supply computer service a mouse pad would be great with your name company name on it. I do have some of my clients giveaways from 5 years ago still hanging around. They keep your company name in the public eye.
Staff your booth to with knowledgeable employees or personnel. They should be very friendly and outgoing. Try to avoid sitting and make sure you have a proper schedule of who will be manning the booth at what time and what date
